Aims and objectives
We have premises available but as yet we do not have sufficient funds to cover the overheads, when we do have sufficient funding the idea is that members can arrive any time between 12-4 and they can just do what they want; sit by the log fire and watch a movie, play table tennis in the garden, chat to someone over a cup of tea, do some exercise in the gym, etc. I want to create a relaxing environment where they can escape their normal routine and make some friends, in the hope that it will kickstart interest and then some enthusiasm and self-confidence.
It is from here that we can get them back on track to a useful and fulfilling life without depending on benefits and other people.
Permanent activities will include gardening, pool, darts, tv, music, exercise equipment, board games, etc.
There will also be organised activities outside the clubhouse at least once a week, such as tenpin bowling, fishing, golf, football, walks, etc.
Work experience, computer training, mock interviews, and compiling of CV,s will also be available.
There is a double garage which will be used as a workshop for projects such as boat or vehicle renovation.
We will also be looking into the possibility of getting the services of a qualified counsellor.
There will be refreshments available in the clubhouse during opening hours at a low cost.
No alcohol or smoking inside will be allowed.
Membership cards will be asked to be shown until we get to know people and there will be a charge of 50p per day.
People can become members and get involved without attending or meeting people, which can be the starting point. They can simply log onto our website, follow our progress and add comments if they wish. We can provide them with a second-hand computer from £100 or we can supply a new one from £300. They could also log on at the library at no cost. Instruction can be give by me or a member.
